Community Health Education works to empower rural communities to conquer barriers that are specific to their communities. This occurs, as our team and network (made up of staff, volunteers, supporters and partners) work to equip the Perry County communities to identify issues and mobilize resources to achieve positive, sustainable change. The outcome is that lives and local communities are transformed as people come to work together to address their local needs.
Join Hands partners with many agencies in Perry County and many out-of-county.
Primary partnering agencies are but not limited to, the Area Agency on Aging, the Bread of Life Outreach, Perry County Assistance Office, Sadler Health Center, Salvation Army, Perry Human Services, Perry Housing Partnership, Perry County Literacy Council, Perry County Family Service Partnership Board, Perry County Food Bank, Perry County Rental Assistance Office, Perry County Veteran Affairs, Perry County Children & Youth, Cumberland-Perry County MH. IDD and Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania.
We had a disabled veteran who was in need of help with a PPL bill and fuel to get to medical appointments.
We referred he and his wife to another agency that would help with the PPL (so we could help with something else if needed) and took care of the fuel for his 3 appointments the next day.
We received a referral from Perry County Office of Aging. It was about a Perry County lady who needed a walker that had a seat with brakes. She had been waiting almost a year. She also is a cancer survivor.
We did an intake with her that Thursday. That Saturday a brand new walker (fire engine red) was delivered. It has brakes and a seat on it.
