giving HELP, giving HOPE

TO: Join Hands Ministry Network

from those we serve:

Dearest Mike and Sheree,

What do you know, Dorothy was right!! There really is no place like home!!! Thank God in heaven for his goodness and love, the people he sent our way, especially join hands, who's help saved our desperate situation and finally we are dawning in the beautiful outcome of waiting on the Lord!!! Nothing feels better then preparing lunch in your beautiful new kitchen while your children are laughing and playing in your yard!!!

How often do we take these things for granted?!!! We are truly blessed and wanted to say thank you from the depths of our souls. No exaggerating whatsoever, we wouldn't have come this far without your help!! Once we get established we would really like to come and help the community in some fashion. Please, it's on our hearts, let us know what we can do when the time comes!!! God bless your personal home life as well as your ministry!!!

NEED & BLESSING:

One of the amazing clients we serve at Join Hands Ministry wrote us this in email.

"Thank you very much for your help. My family and I greatly appreciate it. Pass on the you to all the congregations that donate money and items, it is their giving to help those in need. They, well as you and your staff are fine examples of the risen Christ. Could you provide me with a contact person and address for contacting Wesley Church here in Marysville.

Again, thank you!

NEED:

We had a a Perry County Disabled Navy Vet in need of a bed. He was sleeping on hospital bed that is similar to sleeping on the floor.

BLESSING:

We communicated this need with the Join Hands Network email list. Two days later a nice single bed frame, headboard and footboard were donated and Join Hands purchased a new mattress to fit.

____

BLESSING:

One of you had an Electric Dryer available.

NEED:

We connected them with a Perry County family who needed one. This family had been struggling with purchasing a new one.  Not any longer.

____

NEED:

We had a Perry County individual who was paying almost $200 a month for medications. During the intake we do budgets with our clients. That's when we saw this. With the staff having had training in such areas...

BLESSING:

That client now is paying only $119.00 for 3 months supply with only a few adjustments to their insurance. That's without a change of anything. This is how we advocate for our Perry County neighbors!

____

NEED:

This summer we've had many Perry County individuals who needed new air conditioner window units because they're on Oxygen.

BLESSING:

We've been able to meet these needs because of Perry Countians who've donated such units empowering us to meet these needs!

____

NEED:

We had a Perry County husband whose wife is going through Cancer Treatment. He called us because part of the medical bills went to collections.

BLESSING:

We were able to give him an ear to 'vent' to along with 3 steps to take while we also made calls on his behalf as he and his wife are our clients. The hospital/organization who agreed to rescind the collections. Additionally due to his change/decrease in income, they will most likely forgive the cost still owed and keep his charity level on record for 6 months so if future bills are incurred, would likely be forgiven also.

____

NEED:

We had a disabled veteran who was in need of help with a PPL bill and fuel to get to medical appointments.

BLESSING:

We referred he and his wife to another agency that would help with the PPL (so we could help with something else if needed) and took care of the fuel for his 3 appointments the next day.

____

NEED:

We had a single mom of 2 kiddos who was in need of a bed for herself so that she didn't have to sleep on the floor any longer.

BLESSING:

Within 3 days a brand new bed, frame, sheets and mattress liner was delivered to her. She was beyond grateful for Join Hands Ministry and our network, you, Perry County!

____

NEED:

We received a referral from Perry County Office of Aging. It was about a Perry County lady who needed a walker that had a seat with brakes. She had been waiting almost a year. She also is a cancer survivor.

BLESSING:

We did an intake with her that Thursday. That Saturday a brand new walker (fire engine red) was delivered. It has brakes and a seat on it.

Why do you volunteer at/with Join Hands Ministry?

"There's a lot of places who just use Christ to receive donation but Join Hands leadership is blessed with the Holy Spirit.  I have seem good results with my own eyes. Every time I Donate or help out I receive so much happiness.  This is one of the best run charities in Perry County.  I can never repay them for all they have done for my Grandson.  Love and prayers."

"I first heard about Join Hands Ministry when someone on Facebook shared a post about sponsoring a child for Christmas. My husband and I had been searching for a way to get more involved with the community and we both felt this was a meaningful way for us to do so. I had forgotten how much fun it was to shop for little children (our children are all grown) that coupled with knowing a dear child would wake up Christmas Morning to presents!

We went from just sponsoring children to also helping the staff prepare for the parents to pick up the presents; all I can say is what a well-organized process Join Hands has in place and all the Christmas (Ninja) Elves...what a blessing it is to be part of the process!!

From that moment, I knew I wanted to do more. I volunteer as a receptionist a few days a week and am continually in awe of not only what Join Hands provides but the many other wonderful organizations, churches, and gracious people of Perry County who hear the call and answer the need. Being a volunteer has truly opened my eyes and my heart."

“I volunteer because God gave me the gift of service.  I came to Join Hands about six years ago after hearing a sermon about using our spiritual gifts.  I walked into the old office and asked if a weekly volunteer was needed.  One was; and I’ve been here ever since.  None of my volunteer activities ever seem like work; it’s always a labor of love knowing I’m doing God’s will.  Volunteering is addictive and heart-warming!  It has its own rewards – special ones that can’t be imagined until you experience them for yourself.  Try it – you’ll like it!”

- Carol

My first contacts with Join Hands Ministry were to make occasional donations. Then two Christmases ago I volunteered at the Christmas give out. WOW! I was overwhelmed by the amount of work and love that went into the whole process. I was so very blessed by doing that. Working with and talking to the people we were helping who had so many different needs humbled me and helped me to see just how very blessed my life is.

One day after that I was driving along thinking about how blessed I was to have a warm home. I felt the Holy Spirit move me to help someone else be warm. I grabbed my checkbook and drove right over to JHM with a small donation to help towards heat for someone else.

I wanted to do more! Mike asked me if I would be willing to help out occasionally with phones and small office tasks when he or Sheree had to be out of the office. I was floored by how much need there is in Perry County, and at how much JHM does. I loved helping and when plans were being made for the move to the new building Mike said he wanted to have "receptionists" at the front desk. I immediately told him I had "dibs" on Tuesdays!

It has been such a blessing to me to volunteer here and to be a part of the Join Hands family. I even got my husband volunteering here and he also enjoys being a part of the family. Thank you Join Hands!
